NDIR Sensor

Precise gas analysis based on infrared technology.

An NDIR sensor, Non-Dispersive Infrared Sensor, operates based on the infrared absorption of specific gases. Different gases absorb infrared radiation at characteristic wavelengths.

This physical principle is used to precisely determine the concentration of specific gases. The method is used, among other things, for measuring CO₂, carbon monoxide (CO), methane and other gaseous substances.

High Selectivity

Reliably detects specific gases, even in complex gas mixtures.

Long-Term Stability

Robust technology for stable measurement values over long periods of time.

Proven Principle

Infrared absorption is a reliable and proven measurement method.

Versatile Use

Available for numerous gases and concentration ranges.

Operating Principle

The sensor typically consists of an infrared source, a measuring chamber, an optical filter and an infrared detector.

The infrared radiation is guided through the measuring chamber, which contains the gas to be analyzed. If the target gas is present in the chamber, it absorbs part of the radiation at its specific wavelength. The detector then measures the remaining intensity of the radiation. Based on this attenuation, the gas concentration can be determined.
